Welcome to Year 3
Welcome to our class page! We hope you have had an amazing Summer holiday and we look forward to welcoming you into your new classroom and Key Stage 2.
Please click here to information that you will need this year.
Please send children into school wearing their PE kits on PE days. For Autumn term, this will be on Mondays and Tuesdays. There will be some half-terms when our class will have a PE coach. This will mean that PE will be on a different day; you will be made aware if/when there is a change to our PE days.
Please note that Key Stage 2 children are not provided with free fruit at morning break. Please send your child in with fruit if you wish for them to have a snack. No cereal bars or any food product containing nuts.
We will provide everything the children need in terms of stationary and equipment for everyday use in the classroom, including a pencil case, so there’s no need to buy pencils, colouring pencils/felt tips etc.

| When are weekly spelling tests? | Friday.
Children can practice their spellings using the Spelling Shed, which can be found here – Ed Shed Login. |
| When is homework sent out? | Weekly – Spellings/Maths practice on Ed Shed.
Half-Termly – Homework grids. Children complete each task, which is worth a set number of housepoints. Each term, we will have a celebration day where children can bring in and showcase the work that they have completed. |
| What are procedures for reading books? |
Children are responsible for changing their own reading books in school. Reading books can be changed in school on any day and children need to let their teacher know when they have changed their book so their reading record can be updated. Teachers will prompt and remind the whole class each morning to change their books. *Children still on Read, Write, Inc will have their books changed weekly by their Read, Write, Inc teacher. Please send books into be changed every week. |

| PE kit is coloured house t-shirt (red, green, yellow or blue depending on house), black shorts and black pumps.
Later this academic year, Year 3 will have swimming lessons. They will need to bring their swimming kits into school on these days (Tuesday). Swimming kit should be appropriate length shorts (no speedos) or a swimming costume. This should be sent into school with a separate bag including a towel. Children are encouraged to bring goggles as well. More information will be sent out nearer the time. |

| Rewards for hard work & good behaviour. | All children can earn house-points for their house and for themselves.
Smile Assembly celebrates achievements and good behaviour weekly with My Happy Mind Awards and an Always ticket draw. Class reward tokens will earn the whole class a reward when they reach 100. |
